Wedding Ceremonies, Blessings & Renewal of Vows
Many couples are now seeking a wedding ceremony outside the restrictions of a particular denomination and a spiritual ceremony and blessing is becoming a creative and beautiful alternative.
As an Interfaith Minister I am legally able to perform weddings in Scotland and Ireland, however, this is not the case in England at this time. Couples therefore usually arrange to complete the short civil ceremony in the local registry office before the full wedding celebration in a venue registered for civil ceremonies (country house, hotel etc)
You may be particularly interested in a wedding blessing if:
- You both want a wedding ceremony completely unique to your relationship
- One or both of you have been married previously and have decided on doing it differently.
- Have different faiths or cultures that you want to honour and blend into your marriage service and life together.
- You describe yourselves as spiritual rather than religious or are not committed to any one spiritual path.
An initial meeting usually happens first where we will discuss your plans and agree a date for the wedding. As an Interfaith Minister I will support you both to begin to name the intentions of your marriage so you enter it having looked honestly at your reasons for taking this step and consciously chosen exactly what it is you are both committing to.
I will also support you in creation of your VOWS that are already in your heart to one another and lead the whole service from start to finish. Two or three meetings usually will suffice, however I am available for spiritual counselling throughout the process.
A REHEARSAL is essential and will bring all the elements together and is often an opportunity for some laughter and release of tension and any anxiety.
Elements that can be included in the wedding ceremony include
- Anointing of hands – to mark the passage into the new life together
- Handfasting – the expression “tying the knot” comes from this ancient tradition
- Sharing of token drink – popular in many cultures for the couple to drink from one cup
- Breaking or sharing of food amongst family and friends symbolises that we are all nourished from the same sources the couple
The possibilities for your wedding ceremony are many and varied. I will work with you to create something wonderful and unique to you both.
Renewal of Wedding Vows
This is a beautiful intimate ceremony to honour your journey so far, the love you share and the possibilities yet to come. Usually with close friends, children and other immediate family there and even involved. I will support you both in deciding your vows to each other, holding your intention, purpose, and vision to anchor your love, witnessed by those closest to you.
Timescales and Costs
It is recommended that you book your venue, registry office and Interfaith Minister as early as possible to ensure availability.
- Costs for a full wedding blessing ceremony are from £375.00 to £500.00 depending on your specific requirements. A £100.00 deposit is requested.
- Renewal of Vows ceremonies cost between £130.00 to £250.00 depending on your specific requirements.

Feedback from happy couples
Just wanted to take a moment to thank you for making our wedding so special last week. All of our guests thought it was a beautiful and moving ceremony, and we loved every minute of it as well. You were absolutely right that the personal vows made a huge difference and meant a lot to us as well as to our families and friends.
We wanted to provide you with a testimonial for your website, just in case it would be helpful to you …
We worked with Gary to plan an intimate wedding service in Dorset. It was my first marriage, and Danny’s second, and we really wanted to celebrate our new life together while incorporating our family and friends in meaningful ways.
Working with Gary was fantastic from beginning to end. While we probably would have been content with a standard service, Gary encouraged us to personalize as much as possible. We incorporated two readings, and also asked Danny’s two sons to hand us our rings. Gary wrote some beautiful sections about love and family. The entire ceremony was very moving and special.
Throughout the whole process, Gary was incredibly patient and supportive, and unfailingly generous with his time and advice. We would recommend him to other couples unreservedly.
Thank you so much for being our Interfaith Minister on our wedding day. Every time we think of our wedding we fill up with so much joy and love all over again, not just for the setting or having each other there, but also for the joy and love that you brought to the ceremony too. You made us both so relaxed and cared for at every step of the way. Figuring out the service was made so easy and you went way beyond our expectations.
Everyone present was moved by the words you spoke and the way you presented it all. We had a lot of guests from different faiths (and no faiths) and they all said how wonderful the ceremony was and how included they felt. All of the guests I spoke to said our wedding was the best they’ve ever been to and that it was all just ‘perfect’. Much of that is really down to you and the ceremony you helped us to create. One of our guests wrote in their wedding card how grateful they were to be reminded of what marriage is all about. The whole wedding ceremony was so full of love and fun and happiness. Thank you doesn’t really seem to capture how grateful we are to you and the universe for such a wonderful day.
With Love and Joy xx
